TWO DAY MARKET TOUR & COOKING EXPERIENCE

Cooking Lessons Spain

This 2 day experience intends to offer you a complete overview of Spanish outstanding cultural and gastronomic wealth. It is also a perfect introduction to Málaga. If your plans comprise exploring and enjoying the city on your own, this is a perfect opportunity to get plenty of information and useful tips to make the most of your visit.

We start our day 1 with breakfast because the way people start the day defines to a large extent a country’s character. So let’s join locals for a traditional breakfast of your choice (churros and chocolate is advised but there are other options too) and then we will head for Atarazanas Market, a visit you shouldn’t miss if interested in learning about food, culinary traditions and lifestyle in Andalucía. We will guide you through the colourful market stalls selecting many of the ingredients to be used next day in the kitchen and you will get plenty of information and useful tips on picking local, seasonal products.

Next day we meet at the farmhouse for A Cooking Day, starting with a short walk around the house to enjoy the surroundings and pick natural ingredients if available. Back in the kitchen, the cooking session is focused on traditional Spanish and regional cuisine. The menu is seasonal and market-inspired, and we will prepare together three dishes from the scratch, with a home cooking approach and plenty of opportunity for everyone to participate. You will also discover and taste delicious local products or homemade treats along with local or regional wines. Dessert is prepared in advanced.

Once the cooking is done it’s time to sit and relish the food just prepared, the wine and the relaxed conversation around the table. We eat outdoors every time possible, and stretching on the “sobremesa” with some more tea or coffee is a must.

We were a party of 6 Swedish people who spent a cooking day with Mayte. We had a very pleasant day together with her and her friend, learning about Andalusian cooking and culture at her lovely house. For us who don`t speak Spanish it was very good that Mayte`s English is excellent. We can definitly recommend a visit and will certainly be back to her with other guests.

We were given this experience as a gift – and what gift it was! It was a perfect evening of delicious food, idyllic surroundings and wonderful company. We fell in love with the location as we walked the incredible grounds of this traditional home in the Andalusian hills picking fresh fruit from the trees. Then the cooking began… Mayte’s warm relaxed and friendly style made the cooking so much fun – we have already cooked her recipes at home and both felt very inspired by the love she puts into her food. Couldn’t recommend highly enough – a really special treat for all ages and abilities x

I spent a most enjoyable day in Mayte’s beautiful old farmhouse – full of character in beautiful surroundings. Enjoyed the whole day, preparing the food under Mayte’s instructions and most if all eating the freshly prepared Spanish dishes and sampling thyye Spanish wines. The walk in the garden picking fruit and herbs was an added bonus. I was made very welcome and enjoyed meeting Mayte’s parents and Coco.
A trip to Malaga area would not be complete without a visit to Mayte’s kitchen.
Highly recommended.

We spent the morning and afternoon with Mayte in her amazing farm home. We loved all the dishes that we prepared including the wine and the appetizers she served us before starting. I have taken several cooking lessons throughout the world with different cuisines and I have to say her cooking day is definitely in my top three all time favorites! Highly recommend her cooking for a day class!!
