OLIVE OIL EXPERIENCE

No visit to Andalusia is complete without a deeper insight into olive oil, our liquid gold.

With this experience you will enjoy a tour from the tree to the table discovering the main ingredient of Spanish cuisine, which is at the same time one of the pillars of our economy and an important identity sign.

The experience includes a tasting of different extra virgin olive oils (including the one that we produce on our estate) accompanied by delicious local products in an ideal setting, our family farm and olive grove.

PROGRAM:

– Welcome and greetings.

– Walk through the olive grove to learn in situ about the past and present of an olive farm. You will learn all the secrets of olive oil production and the role that it plays in our culture.

– Depending on the weather, we will choose the best place in the house to enjoy a tasting of 3 premium quality olive oils (2 commercial brands and the one we produce for family consumption) together with some bread and snacks (adapted to possible foood restrictions) to round off the experience.

We were given this experience as a gift – and what gift it was! It was a perfect evening of delicious food, idyllic surroundings and wonderful company. We fell in love with the location as we walked the incredible grounds of this traditional home in the Andalusian hills picking fresh fruit from the trees. Then the cooking began… Mayte’s warm relaxed and friendly style made the cooking so much fun – we have already cooked her recipes at home and both felt very inspired by the love she puts into her food. Couldn’t recommend highly enough – a really special treat for all ages and abilities x

Like others before me, spending time with Mayte in her farm house learning about Spanish cuisine, was indeed the highlight of my weeks holiday in Málaga. Quality of food and mind is refreshing in an over commercialised world. If you wish to experience something genuine, then I cannot recommend Mayte´s Cooking Day enough. The ambience is so much appreciated. Enjoyed the lunch, cooking Salmorejo, Soupy Rice with Fish. If I close my eyes, I can still taste the local red wine, delicious. Meeting family members and Coco. We had a splendid day with Mayte!
We very much enjoyed the whole day. Mayte is a welcoming hostess and she is sympathique, educational and easy to talk with. If you want to know anything about Andalucian tradition you can certainly get to know it through Mayte.
Despite a day full of activity – with cooking and picking fruits in the garden – the pace was pleasant and we felt very comfortable all day long. The ingrediences was locally and ecological and the food was tasty and well-flavoured.
The house and its surroundings are worth a visit all by themselves.
